KARASTAN FASHIONS CHAIKEN RUNWAY

DALTON, GA, February 25, 2007—Karastan, a brand synonymous with high style, recently participated in a runway show for Chaiken—a classy apparel line with a loyal celebrity following.  The fashion event was held in New York City on February 6th in celebration of Chaiken’s Fall 2007 Collection. Models adorned in Julie Chaiken’s and Jeff Mahshie’s latest designs, strutted down a runway beautifully covered in Karastan rugs.
       Eleven rugs from Karastan’s English Manor Collection were laid end-to-end to pave the full length of Chaiken’s 79-foot runway. “Karastan and Chaiken are perfect complements because both represent American essentials,” explains Elizabeth Miller, senior vice president of design for Karastan. “We share a passion for lifestyle-inspired design that is comfortable, fashionable and truly livable.”
       Celebrities attending the fashion show included: Cynthia Nixon (Sex in the City), Mary Louise Parker (Fried Green Tomatoes), Laura Bennett (Project Runway), and Juliana Margulies (The Sopranos).  The Hollywood stars noted above, along with Chaiken and Mahshie, posed for pictures with Miller and autographed Karastan’s rugs, which will be auctioned off to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Plans for auctioning the rugs are still in process and will be announced once details have been finalized.
     “As a high-fashion brand, it is important to us—and to our retailers—that we go beyond product to position ourselves accordingly,” explains David Duncan, vice president of marketing. “Events, like the Chaiken Fashion Show, reaffirm our commitment as a style leader and encourage exposure that further benefits our customers.”
