New Wools Energize Karastan’s Shapura Collection

DALTON, GA, February 3, 2012—Karastan adds two new classic styles to its Shapura Collection in 2012. Both are woven of premium fully worsted New Zealand wool in the U.S.A. on Axminster looms. These rugs combine Karastan style with the durability and easy maintenance of renewably resourced wool.

Rugs in the Shapura Collection are inspired by the hand-knotted Peshawar rugs, which in ancient times were sold along the Silk Road in central Asia. Today this style is associated with rugs of gentle colorations that have a rustic yet sophisticated elegance.

The two new Shapura styles are:

• Arabella: This modernized traditional border pattern was inspired by a Persian ornament. The drama of the design sweeps to an elaborate central rosette surrounded by swirling leaves and vines. The palette consists of tonal light neutrals with accents of silver, copper and gold.
• Pandora: This transitional look celebrates folk influences in chocolate brown with terra cotta, gold, apple green and brick accents.

Both rugs are available in 5'9" x 9' and 8'8" x 12'. Retail price for a 5'9" x 9' is $1299.
